ABC TV's 'Four Corners' on July 4 looked at the future of work - those jobs that will disappear and those that will be created and in demand. The reporter repeated the often-quoted statistic that three-quarters of future jobs will require skills in STEM subjects and that Australian students are poorly prepared because of declining enrolments in these subjects. On the positive side, examples were given of primary students programming a robot, a community initiative where children and a parent met on Saturdays to learn computer coding and the Australian Science and Mathematics School - a government-funded secondary school located in the grounds of Flinders University (https://www.asms.sa.edu.au).
